MPP: Peter Tabuns - Toronto-Danforth

Father, we thank You for the strength that You have given to MPP Peter Tabuns; strength of character, integrity, and the ability to understand the complexities that he faces in everyday life.We ask that you would further strengthen him and that he would clearly see the issues that stand before him as he makes decisions that will affect the people of Ontario. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

After winning a by-election in 2006 and re-elections in 2007, 2011 and 2014 Peter continues  to bring fresh new ideas to Queen’s Park on creating jobs while fighting climate change; keeping people safe from toxins; and integrating new Canadians into our economy.

A former executive director of Greenpeace and city councilor,  Peter has also worked in health care, doing government relations for the Ontario Nurses Association; and early in life, took an active role in the organizing drive, by the Canadian Labour Congress, to unionize white-collar workers during the 1970’s.

While in the legislature Peter has served in many positions including Critic, Environment and Climate Change; Chair, Standing Committee on Social Policy; Critic, Energy; Critic, Education; Chair, Standing Committee on Regulations and Private Bills; Member, Standing Committee on Government Agencies; and as Deputy Third Party House Leader just to name a few.
He has an adult son, Anton, and lives with his partner, Shawn Kerwin. She’s a professor and theatre designer.
