Harinder S. Takhar was first elected to the Ontario legislature in 2003 and appointed to the Ontario Cabinet as Minister of Transportation. He became the first person of South Asian heritage to become a member of the Executive Council of Ontario (Cabinet). He was re-elected to the new riding of Mississauga-Erindale in 2007 and for a third term in October 2011.
Harinder Takhar is currently the Minister of Government Services and Chair of the Management Board of Cabinet. He previously served as the Minister of Transportation, Minister of Small Business and Entrepreneurship and the Minister of Small Business and Consumer Services.
Prior to being elecHarinder ted, Takhar headed up Chalmers Suspension International Inc., recognized by the Financial Post as a finalist among Canada’s top 50 best-managed private companies in 1995. He has held senior executive positions with several large Canadian companies, both in the private and public sector over the past three decades.
Harinder has been honoured with several prestigious awards by various organizations for his outstanding commitment of service to the community.
