
First elected in 1990, Gilles has championed many causes and developed a reputation for being a tireless and hard-working MPP. Working with various community members and stakeholders, he has been successful in championing and getting results on issues like funding for various community projects and advocating on behalf of the forestry and mining sectors, as well as being a strong advocate on First Nations issues.
Gilles and his staff are known as tireless advocates for the constituents of Timmins-James Bay. Whether helping constituents to navigate a WSIB or ODSP issue, securing a funding application for a community group or a municipality, or bringing important concerns into the Legislature, Gilles and his staff have a reputation for always going the extra mile.

Gilles and his wife, Murielle, have been married for 37 years. They have two daughters, Julie and Nathalie, and are proud grandparents of three grandchildren, Nathaniel, Victoria and Elissa, all living in Timmins.
