MPP Hon. Marie-France Lalonde, Ottawa-Orleans



Heavenly Father, we lift Hon. Marie-France Lalonde up to you today and thank you for her life. What a remarkable impact she has had on her community and we thank you for bestowing these wonderful gifts and qualities of leadership, stewardship and generosity upon her. We pray that you would grant her the strength and endurance she needs to continue on this wonderful path you have blessed her and her community with. We pray that your name would be glorified through this wonderful work (Isaiah 9:6). In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Marie-France Lalonde was first elected to the Ontario legislature in 2014 as the MPP for Ottawa-Orléans. On September 4th, 2015, she was appointed as the new Chief Government Whip and became the first woman from Ottawa to hold this position. Lalonde currently serves as Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services and Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs after being appointed by Prime Minister Kathleen Wynne on January 7th, 2017.  Last year, MPP Lalonde also introduced a bill in order to ban the use of microbeads from cosmetic products. This bill received support from all parties and has passed the second reading. With a degree in social work from the University of Quebec in Hull, she put her leadership and skills to work in a career that began at the Children's Aid Society, followed by the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario and the Ottawa Hospital.

MPP Monte Kwinter, York-Centre



Thank you God for Monte Kwinter’s long and faithful service to the people of York Centre. Bless him as he shoulders responsibility both for good representation of the people of York Centre and also making decisions for the safety and prosperity of all Ontarians. Help him to think out of the box and to present wise innovative ideas to help this province be a better place for all.  May he see Your Majesty Father all around him today in Jesus Name.
First elected to the Ontario Legislature in 1985, Monte Kwinter was elected for the ninth time in 2014 as the Member of Provincial Parliament for York Centre, formerly known as Wilson Heights.
Monte has served as Minister of Consumer and Commercial Relations, Minister of Financial Institutions, Minister of Industry, Trade and Technology, Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services and Solicitor General.
He currently serves as Chair of the Ontario Investment and Trade Advisory Council (OITAC) and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration and International Trade. He and his late wife, Wilma, have two sons and two daughters and ten grandchildren.

MPP Sophie Kiwala, Kingston and the Islands



God, we thank you for MPP Sophie Kiwala in her service to our province, her constituency and community. Grant her wisdom and discernment to help meet the needs of our growing and ever-changing province. Allow her to see others through your eyes and base her decisions accordingly. Keep Ms. Kiwala and her family safe and healthy.  In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.
Sophie Kiwala is the Member of Provincial Parliament for Kingston and the Islands. Born and raised in Reddendale, Kingston, she returned to live in the same area upon her late mother’s cancer diagnosis in 1998. She has raised three daughters, Jennifer, Linnaea and Hélène, and has a grandson, George.

In addition to her legislative duties, Sophie is a member of the Rural Affairs Caucus, the Francophone Caucus, l’Assemblée Parlementaire de la Francophonie, the Women’s Caucus, the Great Lakes Legislative Caucus and the Lung Health Caucus.
Sophie’s first private members’ motion, which called on the Ontario Legislature to support the National Aboriginal Organizations' call on the federal government for a national public inquiry into missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls was passed unanimously on Oct. 23, 2014.
Prior to her political career, Sophie spent seventeen years working in retail management and as an entrepreneur in Toronto. Sophie also spent five years living in Turkey and France, while studying English literature and French at Athabasca University part-time. While in Turkey, she volunteered for an ex-patriot women’s group to raise funds to help build Turkey’s first women’s shelter.
