I want to thank you for Jeff Leal and
not only his desire to represent Peterborough but also the entire province of
Ontario. As he gives guidance and leadership to our agricultural and small
business enterprises in our province, may he have wisdom on how to make the
future powerfully successful for us. May, through his leadership, we be a
benchmark to other provinces and nations on how to help those who have the
desire to succeed.
Prior to entering provincial politics, the Honourable Jeff Leal worked extensively with both county and local governments as a Peterborough city councillor for two decades. In 2003, he was first elected to the Ontario Legislature as the MPP for Peterborough and in 2014 appointed as the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Jeff has since fostered growth and innovation in Ontario’s agri-food industry, helping boost the economy and supporting the sector in meeting the Agri-Food Growth Challenge of creating 120,000 new jobs by 2020. Jeff is also helping to build Ontario up by growing Ontario’s agri-food sector by expanding international agri-trade and investment in emerging global markets such as China and India.
A life-long Peterborough resident, Jeff is dedicated to helping shape a strong future for Ontario’s rural communities, a place where his wife Karan along with their two children Braden and Shanae are proud to call home. In addition to his role as the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Jeff was also recently appointed as the Minister Responsible for Small Business.
