Jim McDonell - MPP for Stormont Dundas South Glengarry

Father of all, I bring MPP Jim McDonell the elected representative for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry to you this day, asking that You would guide him in all the deliberations that he has concerning the Poverty Reduction Strategy and his role in the standing committee on Government Agencies. Your Word says that we should pray for those in authority over us, and so I pray that You would bless and direct Mr. McDonell in all that he does so that Your will can be expressed on earth. Thank You for his family, keep them safe in all their ways I pray. Amen!


BIOGRAPHY

Jim McDonell was raised on a mixed dairy farm in South Glengarry Township. He graduated from Queen’s University with a B.Sc. in Applied Science (Mechanical Engineering) and just recently retired from Bell Canada after 32 years in planning, engineering and supervisory roles.

Jim has been actively involved in the community for over 27 years, dedicating his time to the Williamstown Fair, the Char-Lan Minor Soccer and Minor Hockey Associations, the Glengarry Kinsmen Club, and the Glengarry Border Hockey League. Jim and his wife Margie live in Glengarry County where they raised their family of three.
For the past 17 years, Jim has been involved in municipal politics, sitting on many committees and boards, including serving as Mayor of the Township of South Glengarry for the past eight years. He also served as the Warden of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, the Chair of the Eastern Ontario Health Unit, and the Community Futures Development Corporation. On October 6, 2011, Jim was elected to the Ontario Legislature as the member for Stormont, Dundas and South Glengarry. He has been assigned the role as the PC Critic for Consumer Services.
