MPP: Daiene Vernile - Kitchener-Center

Daiene VernileGracious Heavenly Father, I bring before You MPP Daiene Vernile and ask that You would bless her work in the current parliament in the many roles in which she finds herself involved.  I pray for strength for the tasks, as well as special knowledge and wisdom that comes from Your hands.  May she see Your love being released to those she serves in ways that she has never known before, and may You Peace overwhelm and bless her.  Amen.

Daiene Vernile is an award winning Kitchener broadcast journalist who covered your issues for three decades on CTV’s Provincewide.
A compassionate listener and insightful interviewer, Daiene (pronounced Diane) investigated many subjects, including social, cultural, educational, economic, healthcare and other concerns.  Now she’s committing herself to directly helping you and advancing local matters at the front line of public service.
For thirty years, Daiene has been an active volunteer and community supporter.  She is a strong advocate on women’s issues, passionate champion for social justice, and hands-on volunteer for poverty reduction – including ten years at the St. John’s Kitchen helping prepare meals.
Daiene is among Wilfrid Laurier University’s “100 Alumni of Achievement” who inspire lives of leadership and purpose.  She began her career as a Queens Park legislature reporter, expanded her  journalism skills in Texas, and returned home to Ontario, spearheading one of Canada’s longest running public affairs programs.

MPP - Laurie Scott - Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock

Heavenly Father surround Laurie Scott, MPP for Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock with your goodness and lovingkindness. Thank you that Ms Scott has a servant’s heart.  Bless her as she dedicates herself to her responsibilities. May she fairly represent the people of her riding and not show partiality but rather fostering an environment of fairness and justice.  Father, may she know that You love her and are always with her. Amen.

Laurie’s roots in Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock go deep. She was born and raised in Kinmount and attended local schools, building strong ties to the community. Laurie’s father Bill proudly represented local families as their Member of Parliament for 28 years, and Laurie credits her father for instilling within her the ideal of public service and the importance of giving back to your community.

After graduating from Loyalist College, Laurie worked as a Registered Nurse in Toronto and on international contracts before returning to the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay.  During this time Laurie also became increasingly active in her community through volunteer work and has remained a director on the Kinmount Fair Board.

In 2003 Laurie chose to follow in her father’s footsteps and seek election as her community’s next MPP. Laurie’s hard work in the community was reflected in her re-election campaign of 2007 which saw her returned with an even larger margin of victory.
