David Zimmer - MPP for Willowdale

Today we pray for the Provincial Member of Parliament David Zimmer. Father in heaven, we pray for wisdom and strength for David. We pray Lord that our leader would be a man of integrity, upright and honest, and have a godly influence to serve and meet the needs of the people in his riding as he serves Ontario. In all his busyness of meetings, committees and serving his constituents I pray Lord that he would hear Your voice. I pray Lord that he would depend on You and that he would always acknowledge You in his decisions. Direct his path Lord. Lord, we pray for his staff and team today, keep them in Your loving care; give them wisdom and courage to do what is good and acceptable in the sight of You. Father, Your word says to pray for our leaders and we do. We thank them for their service and dedication. Bless David and give him great rest this summer. Thank you Lord for hearing our prayers, in Jesus name, Amen.

Born and raised in St. Thomas Jeff followed in his father’s footsteps and enrolled in the Pharmacy Program at the University of Toronto.  Upon graduating the program in 1995, Jeff went to work at the pharmacy started by his father in 1963 eventually becoming co-owner with his brother.  In this capacity, he continued to build on the Yurek Pharmacy’s sterling reputation and expanded the business into the home health care sector.  His experience in pharmacy also led him to accept a position as a teaching associate with the University of Toronto’s Structured Practical Experience Program (SPEP).

Despite the busy schedule that comes from running a small business, Jeff has always remained very involved in his community.  Jeff has been a dedicated member of both the Knights of Columbus and Rotary Club. He has also served as the President of the Alzheimer’s Society.

In October 2011, after a long year which included a highly contested nomination process and an eventful election, Mr. Yurek was elected as the provincial representative for the riding of Elgin-Middlesex-London.  Jeff’s decision to run was largely motivated by his desire to improve the province for the sake of his daughter.  Being apart of the healthcare sector, Jeff is also passionate about advocating the improvement of healthcare in Ontario.

Coming from a large family, Jeff understands the importance of spending quality time with his own. Despite the frenzied schedule of the legislature, Jeff’s most important priority is his daughter Maggie and wife Jenn.
