Lord God, we pray that
You would be with MPP Mr. John Vanthof in the work he does, that he would be
creative and be guided in the decisions he makes on behalf of the constituents
of Timiskaming-Cochrane. We lift him up to You today and ask that You
would bless and refresh him and his family. We ask that you would keep him safe
as he travels around his vast Northern Ontario Riding. As his riding has many
First Nation Communities, we ask that you would use him to bring unity to all

BIOGRAPHY
John and his wife Ria have owned and operated a dairy and crop farm outside of Earlton Ontario since 1984. He was elected in Oct 2011 to represent the riding of Timiskaming Cochrane.
The Vanthofs have four children, three of whom are currently in university.
John’s public service career started with his election to the Temiskaming Dairy Producer Committee on which he has served for over twenty years including several years as Chairman. In 2004, John was elected for a term to the Board of Dairy Farmers of Ontario. John was DFO Director when Thornloe Cheese was threatened with closure and played a key role in its rebirth.
John also served on municipal council for twelve years, but he is most widely recognized for his ten year term as President of the Temiskaming Federation of Agriculture. During that time, the Federation represented the agricultural community in some key issues most notably the Adams Mine Landfill debate. The critical analysis of the Ministry of Environment’s approval, commissioned by the Federation, was one of the catalysts that stopped the project.
John was a member of the Board of Directors for the 2009 International Plowing Match. His main responsibility was the student educational program for the Match. He also sat on the Board of the Englehart and District Hospital, and the fundraising committee for the Englehart Family Health Clinic and was vice chair of the Temiskaming Foundation.
His hobbies include riding his motorcycle and avoiding rocks on Lake Wendigo.
