MPP: Jeff Leal - Peterborough

Lord, surround MPP Jeff Leal today and in the coming days with Your wisdom and guidance. May his thoughts and plans be established by You. Give him the ability to discern what is of real value. May he be filled with compassion and be aware of the needs of the people in his constituency and how to meet them. Bless his family members and may love and faithfulness never leave them. Peterborough is Jeff’s home, where he was born, raised and lives. Jeff understands the needs of Peterborough Riding, how to make Peterborough stronger, vibrant and the best place to call home.
A Kenner Collegiate graduate, Jeff holds an Honours B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Trent University and an Honours degree in Business Administration from the University of Windsor. 

He is married to Karan, an educator and school vice principal, with 2 children Braden and Shanae.

Jeff is committed to delivering positive results for the people of Peterborough Riding. As a Peterborough City Councillor (1985-2003) and Second Deputy Mayor (1993-2003) he worked extensively within local government to facilitate job creation, protect green space, advocate for vulnerable citizens, and support local agriculture.

Jeff has represented Peterborough Riding as an MPP at Queen's Park (2003 – 2013) with strength and well earned respect. He shapes the implementation of public policy as the Chair of the Legislation and Regulations Committee (2008 – present) and, in his role as whip, works closely with the Premier in managing government activities within the legislature.

Currently, Jeff holds the key position of Minister of Rural Affairs (2013-Present) and has also served as Chief Government Whip (2010 - 2012), Parliamentary Assistant in the Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs (2007 – 2009), Ministry of the Environment (2006), Ministry of Energy (2005), Ministry of Economic Development (2005), and Ministry of Training, Colleges, & Universities (2004).

As MPP, Jeff’s has used his experience to deliver over $400 million in funding to Peterborough Riding, creating and preserving over 3700 jobs, with investments in infrastructure, transportation, businesses and health care.
