MPP: Jim McDonell - Stormont Dundas South Glengarry

Father, we are thankful for MPP Jim McDonell. Continue to give him vision, direction and steps necessary to move Ontario forward. We pray that he would be a strength, support and encouragement to those he works with. Keep his family unified and protected. In the name of Jesus, Amen

Jim McDonell was raised on a mixed dairy farm in South Glengarry Township. He graduated from Queen’s University with a B.Sc. in Applied Science (Mechanical Engineering) and just recently retired from Bell Canada after 32 years in planning, engineering and supervisory roles.

Jim has been actively involved in the community for over 27 years, dedicating his time to the Williamstown Fair, the Char-Lan Minor Soccer and Minor Hockey Associations, the Glengarry Kinsmen Club, and the Glengarry Border Hockey League. Jim and his wife Margie live in Glengarry County where they raised their family of three.

For the past 17 years, Jim has been involved in municipal politics, sitting on many committees and boards, including serving as Mayor of the Township of South Glengarry for the past eight years. He also served as the Warden of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, the Chair of the Eastern Ontario Health Unit, and the Community Futures Development Corporation. On October 6, 2011, Jim was elected to the Ontario Legislature as the member for Stormont, Dundas and South Glengarry. He has been assigned the role as the PC Critic for Consumer Services.
