MPP: Dave Levac - Brant

Lord, we are amazed at how this man has served for many years in the community where he was born and raised. Thank You for his faithful service. His impact is obvious, as he has earned the opportunity to become the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Thank You for the way that he has used the gifts that You gave him. We thank you for his compassion , his energy, strength  leadership and integrity. May he continue to have great wisdom in dealing with the multitude of decisions required of him daily. May You give him continued health and strength to capably persevere in the many challenges that he faces. We pray for good health him and for his family. May they have safety in all that they also do. Amen.

It's more than just politics to Dave Levac, a dedicated community advocate working hard for his community of Brant.

An elementary and high school teacher for 12 years, Dave became a principal in 1989 and developed an award winning conflict resolution program for his students.

Long dedicated to his community, Dave has worked with many organizations, including the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Parkinson Society of Canada. He also founded the Walter Gretzky C.N.I.B. Celebrity Golf Tournament and the Friends of the Firefighters Committee, which has raised over $75,000 for the County of Brant Fire Department. His extensive community service has been recognized with the Canada 125 Medal, the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, an Ontario Service Award and the YMCA Canada Peace Medal.

Dave brought his strong drive for community service to the Ontario legislature in 1999. Re-elected twice, Dave has had a number of private member’s bills successfully pass into law, including the Smoke Free Amendment Act, the Firefighters Memorial Day Act and Sabrina’s Law. He was also awarded the Order of Merit by the Ukrainian president for his work on the Holodomor Memorial Day Act.

Locally, Dave has delivered many results to his community, including a new MRI, a Family Health Team, funding to assist with the clean-up of Greenwich-Mohawk brownfield and investments for the Brantford campuses of Wilfrid Laurier and Nipissing Universities. He is currently the Parliamentary Assistant for Energy, where he helps create new jobs and position Ontario as a clean-energy leader.
