Father God thank you for the Honorable Dave Levac. Thank you for his service as Speaker of the House. Lord empower him with your wisdom, joy and understanding as he serves you in this capacity. Lord cause your Spirit to hover on him and bring him into your Kingdom. Use him for your Kingdom purposes. Cause him to be sensitive to Your ways. Protect him and his family and pour out your blessings on them. Make him a blessing in all his comings and goings. In Jesus name I pray for peace and blessing on Dave. Amen.
First being elected in 1999. Re-elected in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2014. Dave has had a number of private member’s bills successfully passed into law, including the Smoke Free Amendment Act, the Firefighters Memorial Day Act and Sabrina’s Law. He was also awarded the Order of Merit by the Ukrainian President for his work on the Holodomor Memorial Day Act. Dave was appointed the Parliamentary Assistant for Community Safety and Correctional Services and Energy and Infrastructure and has served as Chief Government Whip. After being re-elected in 2011 Dave considered new opportunities to serve the legislature and decided to run for Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. He was elected Speaker on only the second ballot, a resounding vote of confidence from all sitting MPPs.
Dave was re-elected as Speaker after last year’s Provincial election. He has been heralded by most MPPs and political commentators as one of the most effective Speakers in recent memory, presiding with dignity and integrity. Once the current government completes its mandate in 2018, Dave will become the longest serving elected Speaker in Ontario history.
Dave and his wife, Rosemarie, live in Brant. They have three adult children.
